Vittorio Martire: conquering the realm of celebrities

Meet the artisan of luxury, Vittorio Martire, for an exclusive interview to delve into the world of celebrities.

In his office in the heart of Milan, within the fashion district, there's a perpetually open safe—a must-have, not containing precious gems or jingling coins, but rather an exclusive handmade crocodile leather shoe. For Martire, this shoe is a work of art.

It's a symbolic message that Vittorio Martire has always embodied in his style and way of life: excellence, the product, and uniqueness. A trinity representinga true “treasure” in the vault of an entrepreneur proudly representing Made in Italy. A “son” of the fourth  generation of shoemakers, today the founder and CEO of the family spin-off bearing his name: "Vittorio Martire Milano."

Luxury, class, but above all, handmade pieces, with soles that are true masterpieces designed by an artist. The young Milanese has a clear vision, putting in effort, creativity, and personal touch. As he often states, "today, being an ambassador for your product is a fundamental mission towards stakeholders, whether they are distributors or end customers, partners or investors, managing the 'architectural' strategy. This leads to the anticipated path”.

Vittorio draws inspiration from the modern-day Midas of style, Brunello Cucinelli, proudly embracing the noble idea that one must nurture and support those who use their hands. It is staunchdefense of the so-called “craft”, often overshadowed by the static nature of mass production machinery.

The motto: always putting oneself on the line, from start to finish, from the initial sketches to the production phase, from human relationships with the national elite clientele (often prominent figures in the star system), but also international (Europe, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates), to marketing and the selection of promotional lines, and medium and longterm goals.

He describes himself as “nostalgic”, still enchanted by the golden era, reminiscent of his father and grandfather in action, as that kind of "handmade" holds an unparalleled charm for him.

The respect for materials and products carries an intrinsic and timeless magic. It's the Italy of beauty and pride that still thrives in the world! An unbreakable moral rule resides in his moral compass: "Don't come with money thinking you can buy what you want, but with the humility to know how to elegantly carry what is the result of months of inspiration and creativity!".

The interview with Vittorio Martire

Vittorio Martire, welcome to “La Gazzetta dello Spettacolo”. From fathers to sons, you are the fourth generation. But, compared to the past, there has been a deviation of the spinoff towards exclusivity and direct sales. What is the reason for this shift?

Thank you for the hospitality. The shift is certainly dictated by an awareness of wanting and being able to do something more in terms of identity and a recognizable product in terms of quality and design. It's also influenced by the experience gained from the family know-how over the years.

Is the focus mainly on the foreign market? Switzerland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia… Is there a desire to promote Made in Italy worldwide?

The keyword is to make our "Made in Italy" known worldwide because I believe it is a generational obligation to carry on the family mission, not limiting ourselves to national and European markets but expanding to international ones. The clear objective is to showcase andaffirm, through our know-how, one of the many noble Italian realities abroad.

In your office in Milan, there is an open safe. Inside, a very prestigious shoe. Is it a symbolic vision?

Certainly a playful provocation but with a clear message: preserving the value, carefully guarded, of what is done and what is believed in.

Milan! The true driving force of the Italian economy, but above all, a pioneer in fashion. What "vibrates" in Milan in the fashion field that other cities cannot achieve?

Italy is famous for its architecture, culture, art, opera, literature, cinema, and fashion. Milan, in a unique area called the fashion district, gathers the essence of national and international style from the most famous designers. Milan is the Italian fashion capital, not only within nationalborders but is considered one of the "Big Four," the four most important cities in the world for the fashion sector, along with Paris, London, and New York.

Vittorio Feltri, Max Masu, Andrea Ruscica, Arab sheikhs, and many others in the star system also love your creations. What is their common trait?

What unites these people is that they do not compromise on quality. They are aware of what they desire and demand, even in the individual choice of a pair of Vittorio Martire Milano shoes.

Vittorio Martire, I'll ask you a question that delves into the egos of personalities, especially those in the entertainment industry: is a beautiful shoe important for both men and women?

For me, a beautiful pair of shoes represents a decisive, strong personality with facets of character that communicate through the language expressed by body, feet, and the footwear
worn.

What is your definition of luxury?

Having the culture of artisanal craftsmanship, the philosophy of transforming raw materials that must occur in full respect of natural processes and timelines, without forcing.
