Onitsuka Tiger Collaborates with Vaquera for SS25 Show at Paris Fashion Week

In a celebration of creativity and innovation, Onitsuka Tiger joined forces with New York-based fashion brand Vaquera for their Spring/Summer 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week. Marking Vaquera’s 10th anniversary, founders Patric DiCaprio and Bryn Taubensee unveiled a collection of wearable basics alongside a special collaboration model of Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic MEXICO 66 sneakers.

A Fusion of Tradition and Futurism

True to Vaquera’s SS25 theme of “reinterpreting tradition from a futuristic perspective,” the MEXICO 66 sneakers were reimagined with a bold, avant-garde twist. The uppers featured intricate foil transfer and distressing, meticulously handcrafted by artisans in Japan. Adding a touch of Vaquera’s signature edge, shiny silver words like “LOVE” and “RAGE” were stitched onto the tongues, embodying the brand’s spirit of passion and ambivalence.

Runway Highlights

The collaboration came to life on the runway with eight striking looks, styled in two MEXICO 66 colorways: silver/off-white and yellow/black. The collection showcased a mix of unique silhouettes and materials, capturing the retro vibes of the MEXICO 66 while inspiring fresh, modern styling ideas.

A Collector’s Dream

While the collaboration sneakers won’t be commercially produced, their debut hints at the potential for future partnerships between Onitsuka Tiger and Vaquera. For now, the runway serves as a tantalizing glimpse of what’s possible when two iconic brands unite to push the boundaries of fashion and footwear.
